Minecraft drops you into a world made entirely of blocks you can mine, place and rebuild however you like. Survival mode has you gathering resources, crafting tools and holding off hostile mobs after dark; Creative mode hands you unlimited materials and the freedom to build without threat.
The Bedrock version covered here runs on Windows, Android and iOS and supports cross-platform multiplayer between them, so a world started on a phone can be continued on a PC. Add-ons, texture packs and community servers extend it well past the base game.
Mojang AB, part of Xbox Game Studios, has developed Minecraft since 2009 and ships regular free content updates alongside the paid base game.
